Spárga - Asparagus

Bár a spárga még talán nem terjedt el nálunk olyan széles körben, az itt talált kovászos spárga recept, a pesti bérházzal és a lengedező utcalámpával a háttérben már tipikusan pesties! 

Even though asparagus is not yet the most commonly used vegetable in Hungary, the yeast asparagus recipe found here, with the hanging street lamp and the house shown on the opposite side in the background is so familiar to us!

Fröccs - Spritzer

Kellett hozzá: Jedlik Ányos, a szikvíz készítés (és számos egyéb újítás, mint pl. dinamo) feltalálója; Vörösmarty Mihály, aki az anekdota szerint a német Spritzer elnevezést helyett először használta a fröccs szót, nyári meleg - és természetesen a jó bor. A fröccsfajták hosszú sora itt olvasható, ezek többek között a:

Nagyfröccs (hajtás): 2 dl bor, 1 dl szóda
Kisfröccs (fütty, rövidlépés): 1 dl bor, 1 dl szóda
Hosszúlépés (fordított fröccs): 1 dl bor, 2 dl szóda
Házmester: 3 dl bor, 2 dl szóda
Viceházmester (későbbi korokban tömbházmester): 2 dl bor, 3 dl szóda

Háziúr: 4 dl bor, 1 dl szóda
Lakófröccs (kisházmester): 1 dl bor, 4 dl szóda
Mafla (lámpás): 5 dl bor, 5 dl szóda
Krúdy fröccs: 9 dl bor, 1 dl szóda ("megviccelni" a bort)
Csattos: 1 l bor, 5 dl szóda
Lámpás: 1,5 l bor, 5 dl szóda
Góré fröccs: 2 dl bor és épp csak annyi szóda, ami belefér a pohárba
Sóher fröccs (távolugrás): 1 dl bor, 9 dl szóda

Pogácsa - Scones

Krumplis, sajtos, juhtúrós, tepertős, medvehagymás, tökmagos, káposztás, rozmaringos-rozsos, nagyi receptje szerinti, Daubner stb. Mellé egy pohár fröccs!

Potato scone, cheese scone, goat cheese scone, crackling scone (with greaves), wild garlic (ramson) scone, marrow seed scone, cabbage scone, rosemary-rye scone, grandmother's recipe, scones from Daubner etc. In the summer a must with wine and soda water (spritzer)!

- We came home for 6 weeks, but my husband doesn't feel well at all.
- How old is he actually?
- We celebrated his 98th birthday last week, he is mentally absolutely fit but he hardly can move and is in big pain.
- Unfortunately no ones lives forever... the only exception being X.Y who lived for 107 years. I knew him well, once he had borrowed a valuable pot from me and as it turned out later, he wanted to make a copy of it, while keeping the original and giving me the copy back. All this at the age of 104!
- What everything he might have done at the tender age of 60??!

Bonviván brókerek - André and Arpad

Ki szeretne egyszer nagyot tarolni a tőzsdén? Ki szeretne sokat kaszálni sokszor? Who wants to gain a lot once on the stockmarket? Who wants to win often and a lot? Who wants to be a well-known stockmarket expert AND a charismatic darling of the high-society at the same time? Two men proved it possible, André Kostolany and Arpad Busson. Kostolany would be 105 this year, was born in Budapest and lived for 93 years in the United States, France and Germany, a well-educated cosmopolitan, author of numerous witty books and even more articles on stockmarkets. Before starting to read these (unfortunately hardly available in English, mainly in German, French and Hungarian), please get an impression of him in the above ad, shot in Budapest - in which he speaks with our unmistakeable accent.
