Sukarno elnök Budapesten 1960-ban (Ibu Suparmadi fotója)
Sukarno indonéz elnök hivatalos látogatáson járt nálunk 1960-ban. Tiszteletére az egész várost beterítették indonéz lobogóval, az Andrássy (akkor Népköztársaság) út mentén, beleértve a házak erkélyeit is, sokszázezer ember várta őt - Soekarno elnök rendőrmotorosok kíséretében, nyitott autóban érkezve integetett végig az őt köszöntő népnek.
Sukarno, the first President of Indonesia visited Hungary officially in 1960. To his honour, the whole city of Budapest was covered with Indonesian flags and hundreds of thousands people stood along the road when he arrived. President Soekarno came with police escort, waving all the way from an open car.
Az elnök 2 napos látogatása alatt járt a Parlamentben, esti díszelőadáson az Operaházban, a Hősök terén, a fóti gyermekvárosban és - bár a filmhíradó nem említi külön - "mielőtt búcsút intett volna magyar barátainak" ellátogatott a Budapesti Ipari Vásárra is. Soekarnonak mellesleg nem ez volt az első hivatalos látogatása Budapesten, 1959-ben már töltött nálunk félnapot.
Ennyi a hivatalos beszámoló. A nem hivatalos program részeként pedig csinos fiatal lányokat szerveztek be, akik sorban álltak Bung Karno szállodai lakosztálya előtt. Már csak az imázs miatt is.
Sukarno Indonéziának máig az, ami Castro Kubának vagy Moshe Dayan Izraelnek - karizmatikus államalapító nemzeti hős, aki noch dazu hatalmas nőcsábász is. A gépészmérnök végzettségű Sukarno nemcsak több helyi nyelvet ismert, hanem kiválóan tudott hollandul és beszélt angolul, németül, franciául, japánul is, 1945-ben kiáltotta ki az ország függetlenségét (video itt) a mellette jobboldalt látható, fehér öltönyös Mohammed Hatta későbbi alelnökkel, majd a volt gyarmatosító hollandok ellen folytatott háború (video itt) után 1949-ben ő lett az ország első elnöke (beiktatásáról a video itt - holland nyelvű hangalámondással!).
During his 2-day program, President Soekarno visited the Parliament, watched a dance performance in the Opera House, went to Hősök tere (Heros' Square), to an orphanage and - though not mentioned in the news - "before saying goodbye to his Hungarian friends" he also visited the Budapest Industrial Trade Show. Actually, this was not his first visit to Budapest, as he already had spent half a day here in 1959.

So much about his official duties. As part of his unofficial program, young and pretty girls stood in long queues in front of his hotel suite. Reputation obligates.
Sukarno (Bung Karno) personifies until today the same values to Indonesians, as Castro to Cuba or Moshe Dayan to Israel - a charismatic hero fighting against enemies at the birth of a state, who is a succesful womanizer on top of it all. He studied engineering, spoke besides several local languages also perfect Dutch and had good command of English, French, German, Japanese, declared in 1945 the independence of Indonesia (see video here), together with Mohammed Hatta on his right in white suit, who later became vice president, then after fighting against the Dutch colonists (video here), he finally was appointed to the first President of Indonesia in 1949 (video about his inauguration ceremony here - with Dutch voice under!).
